MECHANICAL RIGHTS
The production of music

Mechanical rights concern the printing of musical works (with or without lyrics) using material sound or sound and visual carriers, with a view to circulate them for commercial or other exploitation.
The producer of the sound or sound and visual carriers (natural person or corporate body) is obliged to apply for the license and pay intellectual property fees. The mechanical and reproduction license is always non-exclusive and is issued:

  1. To phonographic companies with which AEPI has signed the standardised BIEM / IFPI contract for the phonographic industry.
  2. To manufacturing and printing factories with which AEPI has signed the standardised BIEM contract for material carriers producers.
  3. To independent Greek producers who turn themselves abroad in order to print sound or sound and visual carriers, to companies which cooperate with homologues organizations for the protection of intellectual property.
  4. To producers/distributors of audiovisual works who have signed the standardised contract with AEPI.
  5. To producers/distributors of audiovisual works who have not signed a contract with AEPI.
  6. To users (foundations, associations, business establishments, etc.) who make incidental productions of sound or sound and visual carriers.
